The contact Lens is our symbol

For SEED the contact Lens is more than a product. It is a symbol of the company's history and pride, and it is the motif of the SEED logo: two Lens silhouettes set on a diagonal that together form the "S" of SEED.

The upward gap between them expresses momentum and anticipation for a world yet to be discovered, and the Lenses facing up and down reflect our focus on research for the future and on the customers and associates we serve today.

Message from the President

Thank you for your continuous support for our company.

I am Sato, the newly appointed President and CEO of SEED Co. Ltd.

With the domestic sales beginning to gain traction, I plan to continue to enhance our production capacity at the Konosu Reasearch Institute and aggressive sales expansion overseas. Despite having set the target of building the foundation for achieving 50 billion yen of sales in our medium-term management plan (April 2024 to March 2027), I understand that we have not achieved the expected results for the first year.

At the core, SEED is a manufacturer. Forming the basis of our business, I will firstly strengthen our manufacturing capabilities, and establish a solid foundation that enables us to manufacture and supply high-quality, high-value-added products in a stable manner. At the same time, I strive to establish a business structure that can swiftly, efficiently and flexibly respond to changes in the market. With these measures in place, I am determined we will achieve our set target in the third year.

I believe that contact lenses have an expanding potential to contribute to medical care through the addition of various new functions. The company will work together as a whole to increase our market presence and contribute to the development of the contact lens industry.

I would like to ask for your continued support.

Our values

What we stand for

  • We respond to our customers' needs for visibility by providing a variety of solutions and added value.

  • We take pride in “Japan Quality” and provide a stable supply of high quality products for all our products.

  • We will continue to improve ourselves by inheriting existing technologies, exploring new technologies, and honing our specialized skills.

  • We strive to create diverse points of contact with stakeholders and build trust and improve their satisfaction through dialogue.

Our technology

Materials and manufacturing

  • Seaweed underwater, the natural source of alginic acid

    Natural polymer “Alginic Acid”

Contact Lens storage solution is infused with alginic acid, which is a natural moisturizing agent extracted from seaweed. It attracts moisture in eyes, and keeps tears on the surface of the Lenses.

  • Diagram of SIB material: positive and negative ions, electronically stabilized by ion bonding, surrounded by water molecules

    Zwitterionic material “SIB”

“SIB” stands for SEED Ionic Bond, which ensures biocompatibility. All our contact Lenses are made from original “SIB” material. It contains both positive and negative ions, resulting in electrical stability which keeps off dust and impurities, while ensuring high water content.

  • SEED manufacturing building

    High quality manufacturing

The entire process of manufacturing, from development of Lens material to commercial production, takes place in Japan. To ensure the quality of each individual Lens, each Lens is carefully produced under strict quality control and inspection system for your safe use.

Manufacturing in Japan

Quality and care for the environment

  • High-performance and eco-friendly facility

All the manufacturing processes of SEED Pure Series are strictly managed at SEED Konosu laboratory. Great care is taken in producing each pair of SEED contact Lens at the manufacturing plant in order to ensure the utmost safety of human eyes. SEED takes its environmental responsibility seriously and ensures its facilities are eco-friendly.

  • Energy efficiency utilization

SEED uses one of the nation's largest steam accumulators to supply steam, which is essential for the autoclave sterilization of contact Lenses, in a stable and economical way. In addition, we have also set up solar panel generation system on the rooftop of the buildings to make use of renewable energy.

The introduction of FEMS energy management system in our manufacturing plant also allows us to monitor and manage the effective use of electricity.

  • Large reduction of water consumption

Large amounts of pure water are used during the manufacturing process of soft contact Lenses. To utilise discharged water from the factory, we have built the water recycling system for large-scale water conservation.

In addition, we have created eco-friendly technologies and facilities, i.e. the recycling of the plastics emitted from the manufacturing processes, and we are currently working on the conservation of global environment through various company activities.

  • High standard of inspection process and quality management system

To ensure the quality of the product, we are shipping only strictly selected products under strict quality management system and thorough inspection.

Furthermore, using two-dimensional code and ID tag, we are implementing integrated management of production and the distribution. It also enables all of the Lenses to be traceable.
